Create Valuable External Links to Your Site; Blogging

Creating external links to your site is important to your site value, but, it is a long term process. Once you start, keep it up. Every external link will improve the value of your website and potentially improve your sales. 
Some of the method for creating external links to your site include:

• Submission of your site to directories
• Submission of your profile wherever you can.
• Joining and Supporting Social Networking sites
• Commenting on Forums
• Blogging and commenting on blogs

There is a 20/80 rule in blogging. Spend 20% of your time on your own blog showing how wonderful you are in your area. Spend 80% of your time on other sites, commenting.  Choose an amount of time per week that you are willing to spend on the internet working to create external links, then, spend 80% of that time being social, visiting other sites to leave comments, make suggestions and become involved in your internet community.

Your goal should be creating back links from multiple sites. The wider your back link base, or more locations you comment, the better for your rating. Therefore, go to various locations, provide comments, suggestions and articles on sites that are not yours. Contributors rate.

Things to Look for in an External Site to Frequent

There are some requirements when finding sites to contribute on.

Sites should:

• Give you credit (back links to your site).
• Allow the world to see your work (comments, suggestions and articles) without logging in.
• Discuss material that interests you and preferable relate to real estate in some manner.

Getting Credit for Back Links

UNFORTUNATELY, many sites have a feature called no-follow set on their links on blogs and comments. This means they have a feature enabled, by default, that tells browsers to ignore giving credit of importance to any outgoing links and not use their site outgoing links to boost other site's PR. Don't waste time on these sites, you are there to receive back link credit, not to contribute without reward (a valid back link to your site).

There are people that are secure enough to allow you to contribute on their site and they will give you credit. Rather than listing sites here, I suggest you search google for “do follow blogs” and you will find directories listing site that are not afraid to allow you to leave comments and receive credit, example: http://www.dofollowblogs.com/ or http://followlist.com.  A few sample blogs you might find in these directories include:

• http://www.3minutestomidnight.org/
• http://www.realestatebloglab.com
• http://www.carnivalofrealestate.com

If you check these lists, and find a site you would like to blog on, please use good blogging etiquette. Don’t go to these sites and enter simplistic blogs like:

"Gee, you’re right, thanks".   david,  http://www.domainname.com"

Be certain to provide a useful, meaningful comment about their articles. Add to the value of their site as they add to the value of their site. Thank them by contributing thoughtful comments.
